Canadian jewelry designers sometimes get overlooked when a discussion of the subject begins. But they shouldn’t. Jesse Turner graduated with a degree in art and design in Vancouver. She started making and selling jewelry in the late ‘80’s, and specializes in modern gold and silver designs. She has received a number of accolades for her designs.

Laura Marshall insists on making art that just happens to be wearable. Her company, Laura Marshall, creates unique pieces of jewelry, using the immediate surroundings for inspiration. She believes that her pieces should lift the soul while creating art for the body.

Shelly Purdy designs elegant jewelry, and has since she started her own business in 1991. She is based in Toronto, and works primarily with gold and platinum to create her designs. The work quality is beyond compare, and the company offers a wide variety of luxury jewelry.

Terri Michael is the inspiration behind “Stoned Designs.” She also works out of Toronto, and creates jewelry that is classical, but she has a whimsical side that allows her to create fun and bizarre pieces as well. She has been making jewelry since the ‘70s, and continues strong today.
